Historic Win for India on South Africa

DhawanAfter Shikhar Dhawan’s seventh ODI hundred helped India to a historic win over a strong South Africa, the left-handed batsman said the defending champions were nicely set up for the rest of the tournament. India have now won both their matches, having previously crushed Pakistan last Sunday.

Dhawan, who bagged the man-of-the-match award for his 146-ball 137, said it was a great feeling to decimate the mighty Proteas early in the World Cup campaign. “I would say it’s a great feeling. This win has definitely set up the tournament for us.”

India’s 307-7 was built around Dhawan’s 137, while Ajinkya Rahane made 79 off 60 balls and Virat Kohli 46.

South Africa were bowled out for 177 with 9.4 overs unused as Faf du Plessis’s departure for 55 sparked a collapse of seven wickets for 44 runs.
