Jayamala, Kannada Actress Chargesheeted in Sabarimala Case

A chargesheet has been filed against popular Kannada actress Jayamala in the Pathanamthitta judicial magistrate court on Tuesday for her Sabrimala temple controversy.

Way back in 2006, the actress triggered a raging storm after her controversial claim of touching Lord Ayyappa`s idol in the Sabarimala temple.

According to the sources, 50 year old Jaimala, astrologer Unnikrishnan and his assistant Raghupathi were charged under Section 295 A of IPC for ‘deliberate and malicious act’ intended to outrage religious feeling.

The temple rules forbid women between the ages of 10-50 years from entering the temple.

Jaimala had earlier maintained her actions were never intended to hurt anyone’s sentiment and in the present turmoil, she is likely to take legal recourse to uphold her `innocence`.
