With Tollywood caught in the grip of remaking yesteryears` blockbusters, the latest buzz in the industry is that an enthusiastic producer is all set to remake megastar Chiranjeevi’s biggest blockbuster – Atthaku Yamudu Ammayiki Mogudu (1989), which ran for 365 days in several theatres – with his son Ramcharan, who found the slot among the big heroes after the swirling hit Maghadeera.
In case of its remake, who would be the hero’s mother-in-law? Some said that hectic efforts are being underway to rope in beauty queen Sridevi for the role. Another interesting observation is that Sridevi’s elder daughter Jahnavi might be introduced to Tollywood alongside Ramcharan.
In the 1989 movie, Vanishri played the mother-in-law role, while her daughter was done by Vijayshanti.
The reentry of Sridevi into Tollywood is seen more as a probability going by her appearance in Hyderabad for two consecutive programmes – for the launch of Ram Gopal Varma’s Appalaraju and the award function of South Scope magazine. Interestingly, during that function, the best actor award went to Ramcharan, who received it from Sridevi, who might be his “future mother-in-law” on-screen.
