Popular multilingual actor Manoj K. Jayan has won the Bharat Murali award instituted by the Bharat Murali Smaraka Samithi and Kanjaveli AKG Kalakendram in memory of late Malayalam actor Murali.
Jury chairman Dr. N. Jayadevan, Samithi president K.K. Rajendran, K.V. Jyothilal, Secretary Baiju Joseph and K. Sajiv Kumar told a news conference that Manoj’s portrayal of Thalakkal Chanthu in Pazhassi Raja made him eligible for the award.
The award carries a cash prize of Rs. 10,001 and a memento designed by K.V. Jyothilal. Agriculture Minister Mullakkara Ratnakaran will present the award at a ceremony to be held at Kanjaveli on January 8.
