Pakistani cricketer Mohammad Asif who was signed for the Malayalam film ‘Mazhavillilinattamvare’ has been dropped after the cricketer was caught in a match-fixing controversy.
The film is supposed to be a life of a cricket coach who comes to Kannur from Lahore with a personal aim. The Pakistani fast bowker was to play the central character. The film is written and directed by debutant director and famous lyricist Kaithapram Damodaran Namboodiri.
So ‘Mazhavillinnattamvare’ was to be launched in September is facing some real problems. Now that Asif is dropped who will play his character? Damodaran says he is not panicking and he has two or three other Pakistani cricketers in mind for the role.
Kaithapram’s son Deepanguran is the music director. The film will be produced by A. Mukundan, a Sharjah based business man, under the banner of Valuvankadavu Creations.
