Actress Vimala Raman who has done a key role in Sohan Roy’s ‘Dam 999’ says that she didn’t have a clue about the Mullaperiyar issue, when she decided to do the film.
“I was born and brought up in Australia,” says the actress. “I didn’t know anything about the Mullaperiyar issue. I was explained the script by the director and was concerned only about its cinematic background,” she adds.
“I don’t mean to hurt the sentiments of anyone. I never even dreamt that this film would become such a topic of hot debate and discussion. It’s through friends that I’ve come to know that the film has been banned in Tamil Nadu,” says Vimala who has acted in a few Malayalam films like ‘Nasrani’, ‘College Kumaran’ and so on.
