I-T seals areas of superstars’ homes

KOCHI: Giving hints that superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal have undeclared assets, the I-T department which conducted searches at their houses and offices in the state and outside on Friday decided to resume the investigations within a couple of days.

The officials prima facie found irregularities in their declared assets and, therefore, they would once again quiz the superstars. The scrutiny of seized documents will be led by I-T directors-general of Kochi, Bangalore and Chennai.

The process will take two days. The I-T department has sealed certain areas of the premises of Mammotty and Mohanlal in Chennai, Kochi and Bangalore.

The I-T sleuths had quizzed the superstars on Friday in detail. While Mammootty appeared before the officials in Kochi, Mohanlal answered their queries over phone. Mohanlal has informed the IT department that he would turn up before them on Tuesday. According sources, Rs 10.5 lakh was seized from Mammootty’s house in Thiruvananthapuram. But this was intended to meet the expenses of the engagement of his son, circles close to Mammootty said.

From the house of Mohanlal at Thevara in Kochi, two tusks were taken into custody. Though the actor claims that he has license for keeping the tusks, it is learnt to be missing. Search was also held at Uniroyal Marine Exports at Vengala in Kozhikode. Mohanlal is partner of the firm.
