Malaysia Vasudevan is dead

Famous playback singer ‘Malaysia Vasudevan, who had sung many immortal melodies in all language, films of South India passed away yesterday at a private hospital at Vadapalani. He was 66.

Malaysia Vasudevan had sung around 8000 songs in Tamil, apart from many hits in Hindi and Malayalam. His Malayalam hits include the songs in Kabooliwaalah, Vishnulokam, Nadodi, Kakkothikavile Appoppanthadikal and Maravathoor Kanavu. Apart from playback singing he has also acted in 85 films and few serials.

A malayalee by birth, Malaysia Vasudevan, was brought up in Malaysia. He entered movies with the songs that he had sung for ‘Pathinaru Vayathinile, set by Illayaraja in the seventies.

He is survived by his son Yugendran and Prashanthini, who are also playback singers.
