Kochi (Kerala) May 23 (IANS) Dubai-based Magic Reel, a production oriented advertisement firm, and Joy Alukkas Jewellery have begun a unique talent search to select a heroine and two heroes for ace director Kamal’s new film titled “Miss India”.
Kamal said that since being a film with lot of glamour he wanted to get a wider choice to select the heroine and the two heroes.
“The film tells the tale of a highly ambitious Malayali girl who after a lot of trial and tribulations goes on to don the Miss India crown. Also included in the film are ace actors Jagathy Sreekumar and Innocent. It is basically a film with lot of glamour but well within limits of decency and is a one which is a heroine oriented film,” said Kamal whose last release “Pacchakuthira” is running to packed houses in theatres in the state.
The new film is being produced by Mumbai-based Kaladharan, who is in the Merchant Navy.
Mathew Francis of the Joy Alukkas group said that the group decided to associate with the film because the selected heroine would be its brand ambassador for a period of one year.
“We will have one of our representatives in the panel who would select the heroine,” said Francis.
Sameer Hamza, director of Magic Reel, said that this is probably the first time that the Malayalam film industry has decided to have a talent search of this dimension.
“Registration can be done only online by logging on to magicreelonline.com from the 27th of this month till the 30th of June. All those interested to register have to pay a registration fee of Rs. 1,000. We decided to put a fee because we want only those who are really interested,” Hamza told IANS.
He also added that once the candidates are short-listed there would be an audition test for which the date would be announced.
“We want more Keralites settled in the United States to apply and from tomorrow onwards promos of this would be aired on leading television channels,” added Hamza.
