But a section of the trade feels that it is not a good date, as the film will not take an opening in Malabar area of the state due to ‘Noyambu’ period.
The ‘Noyambu’ ends on Ramzan day which is likely to fall on August 30 or 31.
The trade especially theatres in Malabar area which forms 40 to 45% of the box-office collections from Kerala wants the date to be shifted to August 31.
However producers Shantha Murali and distributor Murali Movies Madhavan Nair want to release it on August 26, to get the advantage of a solo release and a four day weekend.
They say Prithviraj has a better opening in Travancore and Kochi areas, but trade is clear that without Malabar he cannot rule Kerala box-office.
Meanwhile three other films have confirmed August 31, Ramzan day as release. They are Mohanlal’s Pranayam, Joshy’s Seven and re-release of Kuttichathan in digital 3D. The other two festival releases are releasing during Onam, Bobban Kunchacko’s Dr Love on September 8 and Jayaram’s Ulagam Sutrum Valiban on September 9.
