Why weren’t we talking of Mullaperiyar until now: Salim Kumar

National Award winning actor Salim Kumar says that actors including himself have no right to protest on the Mullaperiyar dam issue.

“This is not a problem that broke out of the blue yesterday. This has been there for a logn time, and not any time in the last fifty years has any film maker even mentioned the term Mullaperiyar,” says Salim.

Salim Kumar also says that those who have said that State Award functions should be postpone because of the issue were being childish in their demand. Those who have not reacted for a long time, all on a sudden embarking on a protest spree also appeared a farce, the actor added.

Director Ranjith had the other day refused to attend the State Awards function as a mark of protest against the government’s inactivity in the Mullaperiyar issue.
