World Cup’s opening ceremony in Dhaka today

The Cricket World Cup 2011 will begin with a glitzy opening ceremony in Dhaka later today. The event shall be aired live on ESPN, Star Sports and Star Cricket from Bangabandhu Stadium, Dhaka at 5:30 PM today. Wizcraft, India’s leading event management company is collaborating with Bangladesh’s Asiatic Events, an advertising agency, has designed the opening ceremony. This cultural extravaganza will feature singers like Shankar–Ehsaan-Loy, Sonu Nigam, Runa Lila, Mila and the icing on the cake is Bryan Adam performing live at the event. Besides this, the 2:30 hour event will also feature other programs which would showcase the cultural diversity of Bangladesh, India and Sri Lanka. Pakistan, which was stripped off the status to host the World Cup has got a raw deal and its culture will not be showcased along with the rest of South Asia. This time 14 teams will be competing in 49 matches to vie for glory. Interestingly, only Team captains and the managers will be part of the opening ceremony.
