Mythreya at the police station| Vinod Kumar T Mythreya at the police station| Vinod Kumar T BANGALORE: Four women, including a cine artiste, were arrested by Basaveshwaranagar police after they allegedly assaulted a traffic police constable when he stopped their car jumped a signal. The accused were identified as Mthreyay (24), her sister Supriya (22), friends Rekha (23) and Rupa (34).
They allegedly assaulted Constable M Shivakumar attached with Vijayanagar traffic police station and stopping a public servant from doing his duty. They were booked under section 353 (assault), 332 (deterring a public servant from his duty) and 504 (insulting) of the IPC.
They were produced before Fifth ACMM Court and were remanded to four days of judicial custody. Mythreya is said to have acted in Kannada films ‘Surya The Great’, ‘Hrudaya I Miss You’ and Maalinga, which is under production. She has also acted in several TV serials.
Police said the four were going in their Santro car (KA-02 MC-443) to attend a wedding at Channakeshava wedding hall on West of Chord Road. Mythreya, who was driving the car, jumped a signal at National School Junction near Kabaadi Choultry. Shivakumar, who was deputed at the junction, stopped the car for violation of rule. Mythreya engaged in a heated argument with the constable and asked him to impose a fine and moved the car, police said.
As Shivakumar tried to capture the image of the registration number plate with his mobile, Mythreya stopped the vehicle and allegedly slapped Shivakumar. And the other women also allegedly manhandled him and hurled abuses at him.
A police sub-inspector, who was in the vicinity, rushed to the constable’s help and took the four into custody, police said.
Constable Shivakumar says, “I just stopped their car and before I spoke to them, they started hurling abuses at me. When I asked them to mind their language, Mythreya started the car. When I tried to capture the number plate with my phone, the women stepped out of the vehicle and snatched my phone, while Mythreya slapped me. The other three dragged me by the collar and insulted me in public,” he said.
