Director Shankar in a television interview to a major English news channel has confessed that Amitabh Bachchan was first approached to play the villain’s role in his Rajinikanth magnum opus Enthiran !
Shankar said: “ I can write a book on the making of Enthiran, right from the day it was conceived more than 12 years back. First Kamal Hassan and Preity Zinta were to be paired up but due to their date hassle project got cancelled. For a brief period I was to do it with Shah Rukh Khan, but due to difference of opinion it was scrapped. Finally we zeroed in on Rajinikanth and he has done a superb job.
When asked whether Amitabh Bachchan was considered to play the negative role in the film, Shankar said: “I had approached Mr Bachchan with the script of the film, and he had gone through it and was impressed by it. But he felt that films he had played negative role had not worked to the box-office success of the film. It was then that we approached Danny Denzongappa, who is fantastic in the film
