After the stupendous success of Ek Tha Tiger starring Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif, director Kabir Khan is not expecting his next venture to cross Ek tha Tiger’s success. Says the director, “We never made ETT thinking it would do so much business or it would be Salman’s biggest grosser! There’s a mass hysteria regarding Salman”.
Since the success of ETT, expectations have doubled on the next venture to follow but Kabir is unruffled, “I’m not getting bogged down by numbers. It’s not my game. If expectations are high, that’s good. But with ETT crossing 200 crores, I’m not working with 250 crores in my mind for the next film. It can’t get bigger than this”.
And with this ends the story of Tiger. Adds Kabir, “I’m not a fan of sequels unless it flows naturally. I purposely gave ETT an open ending because then the film creates a myth, a legend. People asked me about a sequel for New York too. But I like to make films which I would personally enjoy watching. If you don’t enjoy, no one else will. I like audiences to think, to get under the layers of my film”.
Kabir is currently toying with two ideas for his next but it’s too soon to divulge details.
