Chiru deplores blackmailing against Puli

Praja Rajyam president and megastar Chiranjeevi launched a scathing attack on Friday against the Osmania University (OU) Students Joint Action Committee (JAC) for obstructing the screening of the film Puli, starring his brother Pawan Kalyan under the direction of SJ Surya.

Speaking to reporters at Tirupati, Chiranjeevi, who reached the temple town on a two-day visit to take part in the Brahmotsavams, said that it was unfortunate that some forces in the OU JAC had taken law into their hands and were resorting to blackmailing and extortion of money from the producers.

Chiranjeevi who was restive at media queries about Puli, maintained: “I do not find fault with everyone. But some persons in the JAC belonging to the TRS are doing these unlawful acts. Those who really represent the JAC do not have need to prevent the movie’s screening.” The PR chief said that artistes belonged to all regions.

Chiranjeevi, accompanied by his wife Surekha, said that it was due to the blessings of his earlier birth that he was an MLA of Tirupati and could participate in the Lord’s Brahmotsavams.

Later, the couple reached Tirumala to participate in the Ankurarpanam ritual of the nine-day Annual Salakatla Brahmotsavams, scheduled from Saturday.

Meanwhile, frenzied fans of Pawan Kalyan dragged a goat into the premises of Jayashyam theatre, screening Puli, and slaughtered it in full view of the audience.
