Vijay’s upcoming film ‘Velayutham’ is being produced by Ascar Ravichandran and directed by ‘Jeyam’ Raja. This would be the first time Raja would be directing a film which is not made by his home production and not starring his younger brother and actor ‘Jeyam’ Ravi as the hero. As such, expectations on the film are high.
The film has two heroines opposite Vijay in Genelia and Hansika Motwani. Produced with a huge budget, the film has a song which has been shot at an expenditure of Rs.2 crore, an elaborate fight sequence and some running race sequences which would thrill the audience. The highlight of the film, though, is ‘a seemingly harmless kiss’ planted on Vijay’s cheek by Hansika Motwani.
Vijay’s films are usually not publicized for his intimacy with his heroines (on-screen, of course!). Kollywood has its own reasons to publicise a particular sequence in the film; likewise, Hansika Motwani’s ‘kiss’ has become the talk of the town, much to the amusement of the crew and Vijay himself.
‘Velayudham’ could be the most expensive Vijay-starrer till date, it is said. The film has as many as 15 villains, played by lead actors, which in itself could become a record of sorts. Vijay plays a milkman in the film (remember Rajnikanth’s ‘Annamalai’?) while the diminutive Saranya Mohan plays his sister. Santhanam and M.S. Baskar are assisted by Pandiarajan, Ilavarasu and Raaghav in the comic sequences, it is reliably learnt.
Almost 85% of the film’s shooting is over, with the climax and a couple of othersequences remaining to be shot, it is informed.
