Anushka Shetty was clearly the cynosure of all eyes at the Vaanam press meet in a Chennai five star. Her elusive ways and refusal to give interviews to Tamil media has created a halo around her.
Anushka after the astonishing and awesome success of Arundathi, became more of a Telugu star. She was more comfortable doing films in Telugu, though her Vettaikaran and Singam were hits in Tamil.
The actress is more comfortable doing Telugu films where she has got more recognition and heroine oriented roles. Anushka was brilliant in Arundathi and Vedham, from which she got box-office recognition and critical acclaim.
In fact she took up Vedham remake in Tamil Vaanam only because the role excited her. In the Tamil version she also agreed to do a mass item number with Simbu, to make it more commercial.
Anushka has no immediate plans to do anymore Tamil films with its larger than life heroes. She is doing very well in Telugu, where she is at the top. Her next release on October 7 in Telugu Khaleja is with the ‘Prince’ of Tollywood Mahesh Babu. It makes better business sense to concentrate on Telugu cinema, at the moment in her career.
