Jai pairs Shazahn Padamsee for ‘Kanimozhi’

After a string of action flicks, it was initially tough for Jai to romance Shazahn Padamsee on screen in the film Kanimozhi. But a few days after the shooting commenced, romance came easy for the young actor, who intends to do a couple of love stories before getting back to the action genre. Produced by Sona Heiden, Kanimozhi is directed by debutant Sripathy Rangasamy. Jai says, “I know Sripathy right since my Chennai-28 days. I refused to even let him narrate me the story, as I had too much confidence in him. But Sripathy insisted that only if I heard the story would I get involved with the character.”

“I had always wanted to do a full-length love subject like Vijay’s Kadhaluku Mariyadhai, and with Kanimozhi my dream came true,” he beams and adds, “The film revolves around the life of a person who holds a positive attitude towards everything in life; including love. There’s no heroism in this film and it has come out very well.”

How was his lady love in the film? “Shazahn didn’t speak to any of us in the beginning but later became very friendly. By the end of the shooting, she spoke Tamil well,” says Jai.

That his family is into music is well-known, and now Jai wishes to try his hand at music, joining the list of actors like Vijay, Suriya, Simbu and Bharath. “I know how to play the keyboard. That’s probably why I could give some inputs to Kanimozhi’s music director Satish Chakravarthy,” informs the actor. Right from Chennai-28 to his upcoming release Kanimozhi, Jai has worked with new directors.

He says, “I always feel proud to work with debutant directors, as they work on their scripts for a number of years and are more responsible to make their debut film a super hit. I will soon start working in two films, which again will be directed by newcomers,” says Jai. Kanimozhi will hit screens this Friday.
