\Karthi has scored a hat-trick of hit films in his career, a rarity in Tamil films. His first film ‘Paruthiveeran’ broke many records and won for its heroine Priyamani the national award for ‘best actress’. His second film was the Selvaraghavan-directed ‘Aayirathil Oruvan’, a path-braking effort in Tamil films and had a decent run. His latest film ‘Paiyaah’ opposite Tamannaah and directed by Lingusamy has also been a hit.
Obviously on a high, Karthi now looks forward to his upcoming film ‘Naan Mahaan Alla’ opposite Kajal Aggarwal. Strongly refuting rumours that he’s been having an ‘affair’ with his ‘Paiyaah’ co-star Tamannaah, Karithi says that it’s not new for him to be linked to his co-stars whenever his film hits the screen. This time around, though, the rumour has continued even after ‘Paiyaah’ completed its 100-day run, he says casually.
“I would only marry the girl chosen by my parents, who have already started the bride-hunting for me. The rumours linking me with Tamannaah are, I feel, the price I have to pay for being popular. Personally, I don’t know how easy or difficult it would be for me to welcome a new girl into my life (marriage, of course!).
“I think I would have to take lots of guidance from brother Suriya and sister-in-law Jyothika, who married after falling in love with each other. At the same time, if I fall in love with a girl and inform my parents about the same, I’m sure my parents would agree to my proposal. As of now, nothing of that sort has happened.
“The film Naan Mahaan Alla seeks to focus on the lack of security for individuals in big cities and metros. The script is a real-life happening which took place in the life the brother of our director Suseendhiran. For the first time in my career, there are more romantic sequences for me as compared to my earlier films,” says Karthi, his smile in place.
His next project would be ‘Siruthai’, in which he would be playing dual roles for the first time. The film brings together the hit pair of ‘Paiyaah’ again: yes, ‘Siruthai’ would have Tamannaah opposite Karthi as heroine!
