BANGALORE: Kishore, who earned name and fame with his performance in ‘Dhuniya’, is all set to play a double role in the movie ‘Belgaum’. The muhurat function of the movie was held at Sree Kanteerava Studios on Saturday.
Nikhtha and Swetha are the heroines in this romantic-action film that will be directed by Om Prakash Rao and will be produced by Rao’s wife Denish. Rao says that he will ensure all the ingredients in the movie to cater to the needs of the mass as well as the class audience.
“It is not that I am only into action-oriented movies. I want to prove that I can direct romantic and sentimental flicks as well. ‘Belgaum’ is a unique project and is aimed at every section of the audience. I am confident about the success of the movie,” says Rao, who has handled the megaphone for Kishore’s movie ‘Huli’ that is slated for the release next Friday.
According to Rao, the movie ‘Belgaum’ is about a youth who comes to Bangalore from Belgaum and tries to take control of the underworld activities in the city. The movie will also showcase the tradition and culture of Belgaum city with ‘Khara Habba’, a festival of Belgaum, being the highlight of the movie.
Expressing his gratitude towards Rao for selecting him as the hero for the movie Belgaum, Kishore said that he has a different role to play in Belgaum. “Only my character has been narrated to me and I am yet to hear the complete script of the movie. But I am confident about Rao coming up with a movie worth a watch by the class as well as the mass audience,” said Kishore.
Swetha, who made her debut as a heroine with the movie ‘Nanda Loves Nanditha’, also seems to be happy. “‘Belgaum’ is my second movie. I am a part of another movie, titled ‘Chamarajpet’, but the shooting for the movie has been shelved due to the reasons best known to its producer and director. ‘Belaum’s script is quite interesting. I am happy to act in a movie directed by Rao,” says Swetha.
The shooting for ‘Belgaum’ will be held in Bangalore, Mysore and Belgaum. Abhiman Roy, who scored the music for the successful film ‘Taj Mahal’, is the music director for ‘Belgaum’ as well.
