Producer Devi Vara Prasad passes away

Senior producer K Devi Vara Prasad who has been suffering from respiratory diseases since the past few months passed away in the afternoon at Hyderabad on Friday. Prasad has been undergoing treatment at KIMS hospital in Secunderabad for the past few days.

68 year old Prasad who entered film production thanks to the encouragement by N T Rama Rao, produced movies like ‘Bale Thammudu’, ‘Kondaveeti Raja’, ‘Manchi Donga’, ‘Gharana Mogudu’,’ Amma Rajeenama’, ‘ Alluda Mazaaka’, ‘ Mrugaraju’ through his Devi Films banner. He also served as general secretary to the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce.

“He passed away at 1.10 pm today due to respiratory illness” confirmed a source close to his family. Telugu film industry expressed grief at his demise to the family members of Prasad. A few actors and producers rushed to the hospital to get a glimpse of him.

He last rites are likely to be conducted in his hometown Vijayawada this Sunday.
