Siruthai Review

With Siruthai, Karthi once again proves that his films provide quality entertainment. His latest venture is laced with mass elements and extraordinary stunts picturised in an interesting manner. True, many scenes in the movie defy logic, but who cares. Fasten your seat belts and enjoy the ride.

It is Karthi who carries the film to the winning post. His passion and the way he brings an ordinary and a larger-than-life hero character (this is his maiden dual role) alive on screen is like eating Sakkarai Pongal with Vada and Payasam.

The story- Rocket Raja (Karthi) is a petty thief who is brave and daring. One day a small girl comes to him and says that she is his daughter. It turns out that the girl is the daughter of Raja’s look-alike Rathnavel Pandian, a cop who fights for the sake of law.

Pandian dies in an encounter with the baddies and our local hero takes his place, goes to Andhra and cleans up the place of all evil men. Keeping him company is Santhanam (as Kaatupoochi, Rocket Raja’s friend) for comedy and Tamannah for the songs.

Leading man Karthi’s first outing at attempting a mass entertainer is quite impressive with his macho looks. He competently delivers what’s required of him in the action scenes, lending grace to his chop-socky moves, including stunning sequences in which he beats up dozens of goons single-handedly.

Tamannaah is there from the beginning to the end and is gorgeous. While Santhanam is hilarious. The songs of Vidyasagar and his background score are perfect co-ordination with the narration

On the whole, the film directed by Siva and produced by Studio Green is a predictable entertainer that follows the age old formula, which might appeal to viewers who finds comfort in mass masala entertainers.
