KOCHI: Sumalatha, who was once a very popular South Indian actress, is making her comeback with Major Ravi’s Malayalam movie ‘Kandahar’. She is going to play the role of Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s wife and Ganesh Venkatram’s mother in the movie.
The actress had given most of her hit films with superstar Mammootty, with whom she had a dazzling onscreen chemistry. In real life, she is married to Kannada actor Ambareesh. He also happens to be a politician.
Sumalatha has acted in over 200 films in Malayalam, Kannada, Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. She started her acting career at the age of 15 years after she won an Andhra Pradesh beauty contest. ‘Nirakootu’, ‘New Delhi’, ‘Isabella’ and ‘Thoovanathumbikal’ are just some of her memorable films in the past.
In her comeback film, most of her scenes are going to be with Amitabh.
