Madurai was certainly the flavour of the evening at the audio launch of Cloud Nine Movies Thoonganagaram at the Satyam Cinemas on Wednesday Jan 5th evening.
The film is the first straight production of Dhayanidhi Alagiri and is directed by Gaurav, a former assistant of KS Ravikumar. Both hail from Madurai, including many of the dignitaries on the dais.
The music by Sundar C Babu was released by Lingusamy and received by Gautham Menon in the presence of celebs KV Anand,KS Ravikumar, Sasikumar, Ameer, Samudrakani, and the cast and crew of the film. The lead actors Vimal, Anjali, Nishanth and Bharani were also present.
The film has many first timers as crew including editor Suresh and cameraman Vijay Ulaganath, a former assistant to KV Anand. Two songs and a trailor were screened.
Said Ameer: “I am happy Gaurav asked me to do the voice over for the intro in the film, in the typical Madurai slang. The city is certainly one that never sleeps in some areas and stands for valour, love, emotions and friendship”.
Sasikumar however pointed out that its better not to divide the directors as those from Madurai or other places since they were all a united entity of directors of cinema.
Speaking on the occasion Dhayanidhi said, “Gaurav spoke very confidently today and its with the same confidence that he has done the film. The entire unit of the film has worked hard to give their best. I am happy that Gautham is here today because it was he who designed our logo when I did my first release Varanam Aayiram. And its because of that start that I am here today as an independent producer.”
Gaurav was proud that Cloud Nine was producing their first direct film with him as director. He added, “The film seemed to bring good luck as many got married after we did the remix song Kalyanam Kalyanam in the film, including Dhayanidhi, Babi master and even Vimal the hero recently!”
Madhumitha who has danced for one song in the film was also present.
