One of the most eagerly awaited movies of the year is King and Commissioner.
In the film for the first time Mammootty’s character he played in the The King, Joseph Alex IAS will clash with Suresh Gopi’s Bharathchandran IPS of The Commissioner.
Both the characters are creations of Renji Panikkar and the films concerned have been directed by Shaji Kailas.
Now after 20 years after their split Renji Panikkar and Shaji Kailas are coming together in King and Commissioner, with Mammootty and Suresh Gopi in title roles.
The film is scheduled to release for Onam 2011. (in pic: Renji Panickkar, Mammootty & Shaji Kailas)
On June 6 the pooja launch and shoot of the film started in a bungalow in New Delhi.
Mammootty switched on the camera, and character actor Janardanan sounded the clapboard.
The supporting cast of the film Samvrutha Sunil , Salim Kumar, P Sreekumar, Baiju Ezupana, Ponamma Babu took part in the shoot. Saikumar, Nedumudi Venu and Vijayraghavan are in the supporting cast.
Now the big question being raised by the trade is whether King and Commissioner will release for Onam?
The film is scheduled to be shot in Delhi, Hyderabad, Chennai and Kochi. The shoot of the film is likely to take 60 to 75 days and will be over in the second week of August. If all goes well the film will release on August 31 as Ramzan/Onam release.
Can Shaji Kailas and his producer Mammootty’s right-hand man Anto Joseph making it under Emperor Cinema, keep to their schedule?
In less than 100days can a biggie like King and Commissioner be shot in different locations, plus post-production work and finally release on August 31?
Well that’s the million dollar question haunting Kerala theatre owners these days.
