The Pongal releases are doing well at the Chennai box office. This year Pongal has seen four releases Aadukalam, Siruthai, Kaavalan and Ilaignan.
Out of the four films Dhanush starrer Aadukalam is leading the Pongal race. The film directed by Vetrimaran is showered with praises from all the film buffs and Dhanush fans can’t stop praising the film for the wonderful presentation. By leading the race Aadukalam opened big and stood in no.1 place by collecting Rs 70 lakh. This is followed by Karthi’s Siruthai by Rs 68 lakh. The film received mixed reviews and is running well in the screens released.
Next comes the much awaited film of Pongal Kaavalan. The film has faced many controversies but finally Vijay has stepped into the issue and released the film for Pongal. The film released with 350 screens and has collected Rs 51 lakh so far.
