Bowling for the first time since he suffered a sore side in the third Test in Perth, Anderson appeared to show little discomfort in a net session at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Friday, Fox Sports reports.
Team-mate Jonathan Trott later confirmed that the team management expected Anderson to take part in the crucial fourth Test.
When asked how Anderson’s fitness was, Trott said: “Very, very good – I don’t know why he wouldn’t play.”
“As far as I know he’s looking really good,” he added.
The five-match series is currently tied at 1-1
