Sir Lankan fast bowler Lasith Malinga said to his country`s cricket chiefs that he would choose to play for his IPL team instead of Sri Lanka`s Southern Express in the Champions League T20.
Sri Lanka Cricket Team announced on Tuesday that Malinga had sent a letter on July 15 in which he requested to join the Mumbai Indian in the Champions League T20.
According to News24, the request was tabled at a meeting on July 22.
Sri Lanka Cricket said that according to the Team Participation Agreement of CT T20 , player had the privilege to decide which country he wanted to represent.
Executive Committee has left this decision solely to Malinga.
