Robin Uthappa included for final two Sri Lanka ODIs

Star Batsman Robin Uthappa returns to Indian One Day International squad for the two remaining matches against the visiting Sri Lankan team. He replaces wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha.

The 29-year old, who celebrated his birthday on Monday, had a poor outing in the neighbouring nation after scoring just 69 runs in three innings. It did little to justify his cause, as he faced the axe for the ODI series against England and the West Indies.

In the pre preparation of World Cup 2015, Indian team management is searching for all the possible options for Wicketkeeping incase head wicketkeeper MS Dhoni is in need of a break during games. Absence of MS Dhoni is due to injury issues, so optional wicket-keeper is highly required by the team.

Indian skipper MS Dhoni was not a part of an Indian Team during the first three matches against Sri Lanka due to recovering from the thumb injury. In MS Dhoni’s absensce Saha was selected to play the role of a wicketkeeper in an Indian Team. Team management has dropped seven players including Saha for the next two matches. The dropped players are Shikhar Dhawan, Ravindra Jadeja, Amit Mishra, Ishant Sharma, M Vijay, Varun Aaron and Mohammed Shami.
